Nano Weather App Reviews

This is a good app, it just deliveries what it supposed to: instant weather forecast. I would like to see an option to show just the weather symbol or just the temperature or just the relative humidity.

found my city ok but when location saved, it disappears from menu bar

crashes everytime i change my city , disappears from task bar randomly. dont waste your money.

Gets the job done. Could use some polish. For example, when I choose "App Configuration" from the menu, it looks like nothing happens. In fact, the configuration dialog is hidden behind all my other apps. And Command-Tab doesnt help, I had to do a Spotlight search for "nano" to bring it to the front. Also it could use waaaay more configuration options. The only configuration is what city to display, and whether to show Farenheit or Celcius. No option to (for example) hide humidity, show the current temp vs. the forecast in the menu bar, etc.

This is actually perfect for me. Unobtrusive, small footprint, and just quietly sits in the menu bar. Provides all the info I need. (Would be nice to be able to add at least one more city (or more). So if I plan to travel, I could peek and select the city Im traveling to without re-configuring the app.)

Nano Weather is a nice, compact app that does what I expect a weather app to do: provide me with weather information. In that respect, the app is great. And, for the most part, the app sits on the menu bar unobtrusively, out of the way, until you need it. However, there are a couple of very important things that need to change in order to rate this app higher than three stars: 1. The graphics used on the menu bar to indicate weather conditions are skeuomorphic, and they are so small as to make it nearly impossible to make out at a casual glance. If the developers could simply provide a small, simple, monochrome icon option, it would make the application much easier to use. For instance, today it is snowing outside. Instead of an image of a sun, slightly obscured by clouds, with what appears to be snowflakes (so small, its hard to tell), why not simply show a simple black-and-white snowflake? Done! If it is raining outside, how about a simple black-and-white raindrop? Done! Easy to take a quick glance, and no dwelling on the skeuomorphic image trying to figure out what it means. 2. Why do I need to tell the app where I am? The app should simply default to my current location (easy to automatically determine), and show the weather for where I am at the current time. If someone wanted to view weather in another location, just have them type in the location (as the current configuration allows). Done! What is most important to me is what the weather situation is currently where I am, as I travel extensively in my job. With these two simple enhancements, this application would easily rate at five stars.

I really loved this app—when it worked. Simple, elegant, accurate. The latest update has resulted in the app not connecting to its server properly (made sure that it wasn’t my firewall blocking it). It does connect after several hours of computer sleep, but the information displayed is several hours old (displays night during the day; day during the night) and inaccurate. Update forecast yields, apparently, nothing. App configuration will not open. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app to no avail. Please restore this app to its former functionalty.
